Lisa Jackson has over 20 years of experience working as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist in NHS and private settings, she also has 15 years of experience as a Clinical Pilates instructor. Lisa is trained in the use of acupuncture for pain relief, and is skilled at the clinical diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions affecting all areas of the body.
Lisa has worked as an NHS Advanced Specialist Physiotherapist in shoulder and upper limb conditions for 7 years within the Musculoskeletal Assessment and Triage Team. A large part of her role was to diagnose conditions affecting the neck and upper limb, using expert assessment skills, diagnostic imaging and blood tests, before deciding what services, if any, patients should be referred on to. This experience means that Lisa is able to quickly identify those patients who actually need to be referred on for further intervention, such as injection therapy or surgery, as well as those who will really benefit from physiotherapy.
Lisa particularly enjoys putting her manual therapy & pilates skills into practice rehabilitating complex upper limb conditions. She has trained in physiotherapy post breast cancer treatment at the Christie School of Oncology and since leaving the NHS has focused on developing the upper limb rehabilitation and post breast cancer physiotherapy services at Chichester Physiotherapy.
Lisa has recently qualified as a “Pink Ribbon Programme Practitioner”. This aims to guide post breast cancer surgery patients through from early gentle post op exercises right through to harder levels aiming for a return to full sporting or pre op activities.
Louise took over Chichester Physiotherapy in December 2016. Having graduated with an Honours Degree in Physiotherapy in 1996, Louise has specialized in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy for over 20 years. She started her physio career in Manchester where she experienced treating a wide variety of NHS patients and professional athletes. Louise enjoyed 5 years as a senior physiotherapist at BUPA Hospital Manchester, working closely with the orthopaedic surgeons, rehabilitating post-operative patients, and developing a special interest in biomechanics and lower limb rehabilitation. Louise returned to her roots on the South Coast in 2006, working for what was Sussex Community Trust, initially as an Outpatient Team Leader at St Richard’s Hospital, and finishing as an “Extended Scope Practitioner” specialising in backs, hips and knees. Louise decided to switch to private practice, allowing her to set up a team of like-minded physios, who are passionate about giving patients the time, treatment and support, they need, when they need it.
Louise loves teaching Pilates classes and treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions in clinic. She is trained in the use of acupuncture for pain relief and has a master’s module in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy of the lower quadrant. Her expertise is in the diagnosis and management of conditions affecting the spine, hip and knees.
Louise is passionate about health and fitness, and has tried most sports and fitness trends over the years. She played netball and swam competitively in her youth. Having experienced her fair share of injury and pain, Louise now keeps fit with regular Pilates, CrossFit, and dog walking / running, and less frequent skiing and paddle-boarding. She hopes to lead by example, supporting and motivating her patients to keep fit and strong, as part of their treatment for existing aches and pains, and in order to prevent new ones.
